The One Doll Project
Donate your doll and make a difference. So far, hundreds of beautifully decorated rag dolls have made it into the hands
and hearts of children around the world. Join One Doll in bringing more packages full of joy and love to those who are
often overlooked. Find out more about having doll . Donate your doll(s) to an organization or child
of your choice, or send them back to us and we'll deliver them on our next trip. (At this time, the One Doll Project does
not accept individual dolls for delivery. Deliveries are for decorating parties only.)
Creating, Caring & Connecting!
Our mission at One Doll International is to educate, inspire and connect people, and spread some love and smiles in the
process. That is why several times a year we travel to far flung places, taking rag dolls to children in orphanages, schools
and villages around the world.
Through our doll parties, our journeys and our website participants have told us that we've helped
educate them and their children about other cultures, inspiring them to find out more about the huge world that we live in.
Looking
for ways to make a difference in the world and in their children's lives, participants find that decorating the dolls channels their
compassion into something that's not only meaningful, but also educational. It's an equally rewarding experience to those decorating
the rag dolls, as it is to those receiving them. Decorating together, whether it's a party or one-on-one, is a bonding experience;
an opportunity to listen to each other's stories, to discuss values such as empathy, and to ignite a love of making a difference in
the lives of others.
People everywhere enjoy using their creativity and reaching out to others. The love is most tangible
as the dolls start to come alive. The faces are painted, sewn and drawn on, and they quietly take on personalities as the artists
get attached to them. If you love something, set it free....right? Once the dolls are loved, it's time to turn them loose.
Often,
we don't plan what to do with the dolls before arriving at our destination. We just show up and hope for the best. It's
amazing how finding homes for the dolls becomes a mission of the people we meet. The tuk-tuk driver in Cambodia, the shop owner
in Bolivia, the hotel manager in Iran, the missionaries in Zambia... They have all guided us in the right direction. Some of
the challenges these children face can be uninmaginable to most... but all of them are showing up for life each day and doing their
best. It is the most humbling and heart-warming experience to show them people half way around the world cared enough to create
something just for them. Hearing the squeals of delight when handing out the dolls to their new friends, we know we have made
a difference...a connection.
