Our Story
The vision for One Doll International began in 2004 when Tracy Clevenger, the founder, was planning a trip to Africa.  As part of her trip, she was going to visit an orphanage in Zambia and wanted to bring something special for the children she would meet.  Tracy and her friends had a party, making cuddly rag dolls for her to take with her.  At the orphanage, Tracy met an eight-year-old girl named Phides Chibuye who received the doll that Tracy had decorated herself.  Tracy was so moved by the young girl's courage and love of life, and she realized that there were many other children around the world just like Phides: children living in extreme poverty, perhas even crisis situations, with very little to call their own; childern whose lives could also be touched by the kind gesture of a gift made just for them.

The Beginning:
From this simple and heartfelt begining, One Doll has grown into an International socially-minded initiative that seeks to educate, inspire and connect children at home and abroad.  This iniative is actualized through the sale, decoration, donation and delivery of our Worldly Girl™ Rag Dolls.  Decorated dolls that are donated back to the One Doll Project are delivered to and cherished by children around the world.  Participants follow the delivery process by checking the One Doll website for pictures and updates, seeing where their doll/dolls went and who received them.  All proceeds go to the initiative, so even if the dolls are kept, a difference is still being made in the lives of children everywhere.  Proceeds also go toward the purchase of soccer balls, books, and school supplies, which are gifted along with the dolls. We also donate a portion of our proceeds to organizations who promote and provide education for children throughout the world.
